Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Performs routine electrical and mechanical maintenance as well as troubleshoot electrical and mechanical components on forming machines, slitters, tubers, misc. manufacturing equipment and facilities. Design and build axillary equipment for the manufacturing process. Make repairs to control boards, PLC’s and machine control systems.
A.     Operations
a)     Troubleshoot electrical systems from three phase 208V to millivolt control circuits, troubleshoot and repair mechanical and pneumatic equipment
b)     Read and understand European electrical prints and drawings
c)      Troubleshoot and make sure adjustments are completed while the equipment is still running. Technician must be able to identify all the potential hazards before completing the service
d)     Plan and perform work that requires a thorough knowledge of electrical and mechanical theories and principles, writing specifications, properties of various materials, and principals of operation and application of pneumatic equipment
e)     Installs, starts-up and shuts down equipment in accordance with company safety procedures for machine activation and shut-down in-line with OSHA requirements
f)       Advises operators of operation procedures and requirements for working safely with mechanical/pneumatic equipment and components
g)     Informs management of potential electrical or mechanical problems and inherent dangers involved
h)     Maintains company required performance and maintenance records for identified equipment
i)       Performs preventative maintenance functions as directed
j)       Set-up production tooling and perform quality audits
k)      Provision and collection of material, equipment, and trash (including pallets, boxes, production supplies, etc.)
l)       Assist production with installing paper rolls onto machines when needed
m)    Organizes completed pallets in the warehouse area and ensures cases are properly placed on pallet to ensure there is no damage to product or cases
n)     Maintains tools, equipment and shop area including air compressor room for the purpose of ensuring availability and functioning of required tools and equipment within a safe work environment
B.     Health & Safety
a)     Maintain a clean and organized production floor to facilitate manufacturing functions
b)     Inspects operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards
C.     Administrative
a)     Complete required documentation relating to business or regulatory requirements
b)     Ensure that employees provide required support in maintaining records of analysis and certification
c)      Develop a workplace that is rewarding to all employees
D.     Compliance (Policies & Procedures)
a)     Identify and support continuous improvement efforts with the Plant Manager
b)     Follow documented policies and procedures as designated by the company’s quality system
c)      Follow detailed production instructions, processes and procedures
d)     Assist in integrating HAACP and sampling procedures in the loading and packaging areas
E.     Perform Other Related Duties as Required
a)     Follow written and verbal instructions, attend required meetings and perform tasks as directed by the Plant Manager

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with employees
  • Must speak English, bilingual in Spanish and/or Italian preferred
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
  • Electromechanical training programs with 2+ years in electrical, mechanical, pneumatics, PLC programming, troubleshooting and repair. Control logic, industrial electrical systems, including distribution
  • Or, 5+ years of experience in an industrial setting completing the above-mentioned work
  • Forklift, manlift training and certification
  • Lockout/Tagout
  • Rigging and lifting
  • Ability to meet or exceed company attendance and punctuality standards
  • Interpersonal skills, ability to work on a project basis, self-starter, initiative, and an inquiring mind
  • Strong problem solving and analysis skills
  • Ability to manage complexity and resolve conflicts that arise from balancing multiple priorities
  • Ability to work in a team environmen

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the OSHA, EPA, ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
  • Specific vision requirements include close and color vision
  • Must be able to regularly lift/move up to 60 lbs and occasionally lift/move up to 90 lbs
  • Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time, may also engage in frequent bending, stooping, and squatting
  • Due to machinery usage, must be able to work around noise, humidity and dust
  • Occasional travel requirements for customers or to attend training programs.
